Shortly before hatching, this view after dusk on a cold night shows the female keeping the eight eggs (and her head!) well covered up.
Most of the eggs have now hatched.
An open beak can be seen awaiting food. Notice that one egg still hasn't hatched.

The male brings in food and gives it to the female. The female has been noted acting rather aggressively if the male feeds the chicks while she is present!
Feeding over, the female sits on her brood to conserve heat.
